Wadi Success Story

a) physical/local/geographic – Before joining the Wadi program Here tribal farmers used to do rain-based farming, if it rained, cultivation could be done and used to cultivate only one crop, there was barren land, they did not do any kind of farming in it, it was lying vacant.

b) Project beneficiaries Of Social Status – Social status – Before joining the Wadi program, it was seen in the social level in the village that due to lack of uniformity among the people, people were not given importance to their words due to social backwardness.

Cold Storage

In terms of production of Fruits and Vegetables India is second largest in the world. As per a study done by Saumitra Chaudhuri Committee on Nov 2012, nearly 18-20 % of the total produce of perishable product is wasted due to improper infrastructure facility post-harvest.
Loss of fresh forest and farm produce due to inadequate storage facility is a major issue faced by the farmers in India. Due to poor facility for storage the farmers have to compromise with their profit margin and have to sell their product during the peak season when the cost is low.

Successes Story of Koi Village

Koi is a Tribal village, 25 kilometers from Korba district in Chhattisgarh. In 2011 GBVSS starting Wadi project in Koi village, that time large number of peoples are taking deshi alcohol (mahuva daru) and they do not participate in farm and other work due to that Family responsibility or burden comes on the shoulder of women members of the family.
